Teju

In this day and age, it is so easy to feel entitled. All of us experience this phenomenon at some point in our lives. The trend unfortunately seems to be only increasing, especially in the younger generation. It has always been my hope to instill in my children, a sense of responsibility toward the world they are growing in. I want them to recognize how the world around them contributes to their well being, and I want to teach them to give back to the community and the world, in whatever capacity they can.

I believe children do what their parents do, not what their parents say. What better way then to show them how to do it right, than to demonstrate it, live it, and do it myself?!

I am running for Asha for Education, a non profit organization, which supports a beautiful cause. A mission to help educate under privileged children in India. This half marathon for Asha for Education, has gently reminded me how blessed I am. It has helped me overcome my own phobia for running, while giving me the joy of doing it for such a noble cause. It has been enormously beneficial physically, and emotionally very gratifying. Asha for Education has inspired me to do my part for my world and my fellow humans. I sure hope I can be such an inspiration to my children.

I’m reaching out to all of you, to help this neat cause.

As the Chinese proverb goes, you teach a man how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime!

Open up your hearts, educate a child, and watch him/her change the world to make it better for you, and your loved ones. Pay it forward.

Asha (Hope) is a volunteer run non-profit that raises funds for the education of underprivileged children in India. The goal is to lift people out of poverty by empowering them through education.Â
Asha is a zero-overhead organization, which means that every donated dollar reaches education projects in India. Asha has a four star rating (highest possible) from Charity Navigator. This is partly because of the unique overhead policy and the fully volunteer driven, organisation structure.
Please choose Asha as your charity of choice this year, and support the cause as well as support my run. Your contribution is an important motivator for me to go farther and faster! No amount is too small.
