We drive or walk and see a pack of bodies breeze by – Runners in training. I use to watch them glide in awe – their toned muscles tightening and flexing as their feet hit the ground, their sweat glistening and running in rivets down their supple necks etc.
Always that view in mind, I use to think wow!! – when would I become one of them.
TEAM ASHA helped me to become one of them and it’s no longer a dream anymore. Running to remain fit and associating myself to a great cause by doing so is a great feeling.
I have never run more than 3 miles ever before, forget Marathon,with help of TEAM ASHA training program and motivation– I did it. I ran Half Marathon in Sept 2009,2011 and Oct 27th 2013,Oct 19, 2014, Oct 2015 and Oct 2016. I plan to run Half Marathon in April 2021.
Asha Group’s Mission is to provide education to underprivileged children in India. Also address, other issues affecting human life across the globe such as healthcare, environment, socio-economic aspects and women’s issues.- http://stlouis.ashanet.org
The program fundraising idea or ‘pledge’ is a great one – it provides beginners like me, the team support and training needed to prepare myself for the marathon and I in turn, raise money and awareness for Asha through my personal network of family, friends and supporters. Every Saturday morning, we run as a team in Forrest Park or in Crevecoeur Park, and it has been an unparalleled feeling of camaraderie to be with a group running for a cause.
I hope to raise $2000 towards supporting the Asha – ST.LOUIS chapter, and I know with your help I can achieve this goal. I need not say much about importance of education in a Kid’s life and Poverty India, so let’s help this great cause by donating.
Come and be part of this Asha – “HOPE” by helping the children of India in their path to a better future by contributing 50$,75$,100$ or 500$ and see your contribution going to specific projects. These specific projects are such as Salary to Teachers in participating School in a village, construction of residential high school for tribal girls and I am involved in the team to select where these donations will go.
